City of Victorville, Parks & Rec Dept, Sponsor of Fall Festival

The City of Victorville promises to be bigger and better than ever thanks to the generous support of sponsors like the Rancho Motor Company. A Friday night concert is being added to the events this year, marking the first time that the festival will span two days.

This year's festival will begin on Friday, October 6 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The highlight of the festivities on the first day will be the concert presented by Phat Cat Swinger with the music beginning at 8 p.m. This high-energy group plays rockabilly, jazz and swing and guarantees a good time for people of all ages.

Saturday, October 7 brings the City of Victorville Fall Festival into full swing. Festivities begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Most of the action can be found at the Victorville Civic Center at 14343 Civic Drive. Attendees will discover a full day of events and activities planned, including two stages of live entertainment. Dance and music performances will be offered by several local groups. Artisans and craftsmen from around the region will be presenting one-of-a-kind gifts and useful items for sale. Many education and service organizations will be attending to provide information and outreach to the community. The food booths, as always, promise to be a highlight. Attendees can expect traditional favorites like elephant ears and corndogs along with barbecue and a few unexpected surprises.

The City of Victorville Fall Festival hasn't overlooked the littlest community members in this year's events. The Kids' Zone is packed with rides and attractions that no one will be able to resist. Children also will be delighted by the live entertainment, much of which features talented youngsters from the local area.

As usual, parking and admission are available free of charge. There's also no charge for the live entertainment or all the fun that's waiting to be discovered in the Kids' Zone.

Like last year, this year's festivities will be supplemented by the High Desert Book Festival. Presented by the Victor Valley Arts and Education Center, the event highlights local authors and their work. Anyone may attend presentations by some of the authors and browse through the books for sale. More information about this "Festival Within Our Fall Festival" can be found at www.highdesertbookfest.org.
